Sustainable Fashions 2025
This collection is composed of garments and accessories that were created of materials that were originally used for another purpose. This is the essence of sustainability - something is reused in an creative and novel way and therefore adds to the idea that the fashion industry which is known as one of the most wasteful industries,can lead the way in creating items that are both beautiful to wear and contribute to sustaining our planet.
Many of the pieces in this collection started out as fabrics from an upholstery store where the main business is renewing old furniture pieces by covering them with fabrics that bring out the beauty of the structure of the piece but also add color and design to the room in which it is placed. Upholstery is therefore in the sustainability business and uses traditional processes to restore old furniture.. Also in a further effort to contribute to process of sustainability, this upholstery store routinely takes the remnants that are left from their main business and sells them to the public.
Sustainability in the fashion business is about this same process. For example, out of a remnant of upholstery fabric which is in this case is a classic black and gold design, can emerge a striking cape cape which is lined with lighter weight upholstery fabric and trimmed with smocking created using yet another remnants. In this collection, there are clutch bags which are made from remnants of fabric which have been refashioned into beautiful accessories. There are also an assortment of vintage scarves which are paired with flower brooches made out of ribbon and are great for dressing up any outfit. Overall, the word sustainability in fashion should bring to mind classic, well fashioned garments or accessories that will continue to bring pleasure to those who wear them and may be continually repurposed.
